Do you have a future in fostering?

We’re a nation of animal lovers with around half of us owning a pet. That doesn’t mean the other half wouldn’t love a pet too though. It might be that long-term animal ownership isn’t possible or you’d like to give back and help other animals find their forever home. If that’s the case then becoming part of our foster network might be right for you.

Why foster?

By being a temporary carer you allow us to give a space to another animal in need. And you give the animal the chance to get used to a home-based environment.

Who can become a fosterer?

There are only a few requirements to becoming a foster carer with us. You might have your own pets already but still be able to support a cat or dog, or have no animals, either might work for us. At the RSPCA Coventry, we look for potential fosters with:

  • A safe, quiet spare room for new foster cats or kittens
  • A fully secured, private-fenced garden for foster dogs
  • Company during the day
  • Fully vaccinated pets of your own (if you have them)
  • The time to dedicate to the foster pet including keeping their records up to date
  • Can drive, or have access to a vehicle and live within 10 miles of the centre

Our fosterer stories

“The RSPCA Coventry & District have been fantastic in providing all the support and advice during our fostering.  We have found the whole experience to be extremely rewarding, knowing that they have been part of a loving family, staying in a home environment, while under the care of the RSPCA.”.

Mark Cummins, a fosterer for the last two years
