Ready to Adopt A Pet? What Happens Next:
If you’re ready to adopt a pet, you can view our cats and dogs that are available for rehoming. Our team care closely for each animal at our centre and get to know the personality of each cat and dog. We take the time to understand their behaviour and what type of forever home would work best for them, this might be:
- Needing a secure garden
- Being an inside cat
- Not being left alone for long periods of time (especially when first settling in)
- Wanting long walks (or short ones!)
- Able to live with children (over a certain age)
Please take the time to look at each of our cats and dogs, what they like and what type of home will work for them. If you think you’re a good match for our animals then please express an interest.
Our express an interest form does ask a lot of questions about your home, its environment and your lifestyle. We’re not trying to be nosey, we just want to make sure that we can match you to your perfect pet.
We look at each form in the order they were sent and received by us. Our teams then look through in detail and if there is a good match, we’ll contact potential adopters. Unfortunately we can’t reply to all contact forms due to the volume we get and if you haven’t heard from us within five working days of expressing an interest you might not be successful.
You’re a match!
What is next in the process for adopting a dog or cat?
Our team will give you a call or email after reading your form to talk to you in more detail about our animals and the home that you can give them. We’ll always be honest and if we think you might be suited to a different dog or cat, we’ll give you this advice. But if we think you are a ‘perfect match’ then we’ll reserve our dog or cat for you. There are a few things that we need to confirm before we move to the next stage:
- Renting? We’ll need to see permission from your landlord that you can keep animals (or have another animal).
- Already have a dog or cat? We’ll need to see their current vaccination status which you can email to us.
- Photos? We’ll also need to see photos of your garden and home so we know where your future pet will be spending their time.
Adopting a Cat: final steps
Passed the ‘perfect match’ stage? Here’s what happens next when you adopt a cat.
- We’ll schedule an appointment and invite you to the centre
- At the appointment you can meet your potential cat and socialise
- If everyone is happy you can make a final appointment to collect your cat and adopt them.

Adopting your cat or dog and taking them home
When you come to collect your dog or cat we’ll be on hand to help you transport them securely. Whether this is helping you equipment and accessories or providing specific walking equipment for your dog. You can always ask us if you are unsure.
Remember, you must also bring an ID tag for your dog with contact details on. It is the law that a dog in a public place must wear an ID tag. We can help you with these at the centre where we have purchaseable options, apart from engraved tags, available.
